Introducing the 2025–2026 Ford Raptor Family
Ford’s Raptor nameplate represents the pinnacle of factory off-road performance across multiple models. In 2025 and 2026, Ford offers Raptor versions of its F-150 pickup, Bronco SUV, and Ranger midsize truck, all engineered as street-legal desert racers with extreme capability. Each Raptor features aggressive styling (wide fenders, signature “FORD” block-letter grille), upgraded 4×4 drivetrains, high-travel suspensions, and the most powerful engines in their class. Below, we dive into each Raptor model:
- Ford Ranger Raptor (2025–2026) – A midsize pickup with a twin-turbo V6, rally-bred suspension and fierce agility.
- Ford Bronco Raptor (2025–2026) – A four-door SUV combining open-air fun with Baja 1000-level off-road hardware.
- Ford F-150 Raptor (2025–2026) – The original Raptor full-size truck, now in its third generation with EcoBoost power.
- Ford F-150 Raptor R – A V8-powered, supercharged variant of the F-150 Raptor that takes performance to the extreme.
- Ford Maverick Raptor (Rumored) – A compact truck Raptor has been speculated; we discuss Ford’s direction for the smallest pickup.
Each Raptor model comes loaded from the factory, but Tim Moran Ford Hemet can also help you customize your Raptor with genuine Ford Performance parts, accessories, and local expertise. We proudly serve Hemet, CA and surrounding areas (including San Jacinto, Menifee, Banning, Beaumont, Temecula and Riverside) as the region’s go-to Ford performance dealership Now, let’s explore the Raptors in detail.
Ford Ranger Raptor (2025–2026)
The 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor brings the Raptor ethos to the midsize truck segment for U.S. buyers at last. This truck is built for high-speed off-roading in a slightly smaller, more maneuverable package than the F-150 Raptor. Despite its size, the Ranger Raptor is every bit a Raptor in spirit and spec.
Power & Performance: Under the hood, the Ranger Raptor packs a twin-turbo 3.0L EcoBoost V6 shared with the Bronco Raptor, cranking out 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque That power is channeled through a 10-speed automatic and standard 4×4 with front and rear locking differentials for maximum traction on any terrain. This powertrain launches the Ranger Raptor from 0–60 MPH in just over 5 seconds – impressive for a pickup. Off the pavement, the Ranger Raptor’s specialty suspension shines: 2.5-inch FOX Live Valve internal-bypass shocks at all four corners adapt on the fly, paired with a reinforced frame and a Watts link coil-spring rear suspension for superb stability over rough ground. With 10.7 inches of ground clearance and serious approach, departure, and breakover angles (≈33° approach, 26° departure), the Ranger Raptor is ready to tackle rocky trails and desert dunes alike.
While the Ranger Raptor sacrifices some towing and payload compared to other Rangers, it still offers up to 5,510 lbs towing and 1,375 lbs payload – plenty for dirt bikes, camping gear or a small boat. Ford also equips it with advanced towing tech like a 360º camera for easier trailering and off-road maneuvering Fuel economy comes in around 16 MPG city / 18 highway (17 combined) due to the big tires and added weight – a fair tradeoff for its capability.
Design & Features: Visually, the Ranger Raptor looks the part of a mini Raptor: it’s about 2 inches wider in track than a standard Ranger for a planted stance. Bold fender flares, functional vents, steel bash plates, and the FORD grille let everyone know this is no ordinary Ranger. 17-inch alloy wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires are standard, with beadlock-capable wheels optional for airing down off-road. Lighting up the trail (or campsite) is easy thanks to Ford’s Zone Lighting system, which can illuminate areas around the truck via the touchscreen or FordPass app.
Inside, the Ranger Raptor is fully loaded in its single trim (no multiple trims needed – it’s essentially “loaded” by default). It comes with upscale touches like leather-trimmed seats (with sport bolstering), a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate, and the large 12-inch SYNC® 4A touchscreen with built-in navigation and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. A 12-inch digital driver gauge cluster is also standard, giving you configurable off-road readouts. Audiophiles will appreciate the 10-speaker B&O® Premium Sound System, and everyone will appreciate the 360º Top-Down Camera that makes parking or cresting a hill easier. Despite its rugged mission, the Ranger Raptor seats five comfortably – the crew cab configuration offers over 30 inches of rear legroom, and rear seat cushions flip up to reveal hidden storage bins for your gear.
Off-Road Tech: Like its bigger Raptor brothers, the Ranger Raptor features Terrain Management drive modes (Normal, Eco, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, Sand, and a Rock Crawl mode unique to Raptor). Each mode adjusts throttle mapping, shift points, and traction control for optimal performance. A Trail Control low-speed cruise control helps on technical terrain, and with the lockers and Trail Turn Assist, the Ranger Raptor can pivot tightly around bends. Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite is standard too, including BLIS® blind-spot monitoring (with trailer coverage), Pre-Collision Assist with Auto Emergency Braking, lane-keeping system, and more– useful both on-road and off.
Ranger Raptor vs. the Competition: The Ranger Raptor enters a competitive midsize off-road truck arena. Its closest rival is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 (and GMC Canyon AT4X), but the Raptor holds major advantages in power and suspension. The ZR2’s 2.7L turbo engine makes around 310 hp, far below the Raptor’s 405 hp punch. Even the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro (326 hp hybrid) can’t match the Ranger Raptor’s output. Furthermore, neither competitor offers the kind of high-speed desert-running capability that the Ranger Raptor’s Fox Live Valve shocks provide. The Raptor’s long-travel suspension is tuned for Baja-style performance, whereas Chevy’s ZR2 is more focused on slow-speed rock crawling with its Multimatic spool-valve shocks. In short, the Ranger Raptor delivers a balance of power, speed and tech that’s unique in the midsize class, making it a true standout.
Trims, Options & Colors: Ford simplifies things with the Ranger Raptor – it essentially comes in one fully equipped trim (with an optional exterior Graphics package or beadlock wheels as the main extras). That means you don’t have to decide between multiple trim levels; every Ranger Raptor gets the goodies mentioned above. You can, however, choose your paint color: available colors include Velocity Blue Metallic, Shelter Green Metallic, Shadow Black, Oxford White, and a new “Marsh” gray tone (similar to Cactus Gray). Notably, a bold Code Orange color (long associated with Raptor) was offered on earlier Raptors, but for 2024+ it has been replaced by Shelter Green as the special Raptor-exclusive color across the lineup. If you want your Ranger Raptor to stand out, that matte Army-inspired Shelter Green is a great choice – it recalls Ford’s off-road military heritage while turning heads on the street.
Ford Bronco Raptor (2025–2026)
For those who prefer an SUV, the 2025 Ford Bronco Raptor delivers extreme off-road performance in a unique open-air package. Nicknamed the “Braptor” by enthusiasts, the Bronco Raptor builds on the revived Bronco frame with wideset stance, huge tires, and Ford Performance engineering to create perhaps the most capable factory 4×4 SUV on the market. If you want to climb rocks, blast through sand, and cruise with the roof off – all in one vehicle – the Bronco Raptor is your ride.
Powertrain & Chassis: Under the hood, the Bronco Raptor uses a 3.0L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 tuned to 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. This is a significant bump over the Bronco Wildtrak’s 2.7L engine, giving the Bronco Raptor the muscle needed to propel its extra mass (and overcome big obstacles). Power is delivered through a 10-speed automatic and a robust 4WD system with locking front and rear differentials (Dana 50 Heavy-Duty axles) plus a dual-range transfer case. With this V6, the Bronco Raptor hits 60 MPH in about 6.8 seconds – not sports-car fast, but impressive given its size and off-road tires. Fuel mileage is a thirsty ~15 mpg city / 16 highway, but no one buys a Raptor for fuel economy.
The Bronco Raptor’s suspension and tires are its party pieces. It rides on 37-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires – the largest tires of any production SUV – mounted on 17-inch beadlock-capable >wheels. The suspension is the HOSS 4.0 (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension) with Fox Live Valve dampers, similar to the F-150 Raptor’s setup. These semi-active shocks constantly adjust damping to soak up bumps and land jumps without breaking a sweat. The Bronco Raptor sits ~4 inches wider than a base Bronco, requiring bolt-on fender flares to cover its massive 73.6-inch track. The result is a menacing stance – but also a challenge in narrow trails or city lanes (the Raptor is nearly as wide as an F-150, which drivers should keep in mind). The wider footprint does pay dividends off-road: the approach angle exceeds 47°, breakover around 30°, and departure ~40° (with the 37″ tires), allowing the Bronco Raptor to clear obstacles that would hang up lesser 4x4s. Skid plates armor the underbelly, and a disconnecting front sway bar (from the Bronco Badlands) gives maximum articulation on rocks.
Another upgrade: the Bronco Raptor’s tow rating is 4,500 lbs – a full 1,000 lbs more than other >Broncos. Ford beefed up the frame and added the Bronco Raptor Tow Package to achieve this, meaning you can confidently tow small campers or trailers with your Braptor.
Exterior & Interior: The Bronco Raptor proudly wears unique styling cues. The grille gets the FORD block letters and amber marker lights. The hood has an integrated heat-extractor vent and molded Raptor graphics available. Heavy-duty steel modular bumpers with tow hooks are standard, and removable running boards/rock sliders protect the sides. Despite its hardcore hardware, the Bronco Raptor retains the Bronco’s hallmark removable roof and doors, so you can enjoy the open air (just be prepared to climb up – it’s tall!). Ford even offers both a cloth soft top and a removable hardtop option.
Inside, the Bronco Raptor combines an off-road utilitarian vibe with modern tech and comfort. The upholstery can be marine-grade vinyl (for easy wash-out after muddy adventures) or upgraded leather-trimmed seats. Bold Code Orange accents (like a 12 o’clock steering wheel marker and optional seat belts) remind you this is a Raptor. A large 12-inch digital instrument cluster is standard, as is a 12-inch SYNC 4 infotainment touchscreen with off-road trail navigation maps You also get a beefy steering wheel with paddle shifters and auxiliary switches overhead for connecting winches, light bars, etc. Audio is pumped through a 10-speaker (plus subwoofer) B&O Sound System, turning the Bronco into a rolling concert on the trails. Other comforts now standard on 2025: a heated steering wheel, and rear seat air vents for passengers.
On-road Manners: Despite its extreme specs, the Bronco Raptor is surprisingly civil on-road. MotorTrend notes that the huge tires and trick suspension soak up potholes with ease, making it easygoing on pavement. It’s not a quiet ride (those tires hum, and the V6’s exhaust is sporty), but it’s comfortable enough to daily drive. The main on-road downside is width – you’ll learn to take wider turns and be cautious in tight parking lots. Still, features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind-Spot Monitoring, and Lane-Keep Assist (all part of Co-Pilot360) help make highway drives easier.
Bronco Raptor vs. Competitors: The Bronco Raptor’s most direct rival is the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, which packs a 6.4L V8 with 470 hp. The Jeep edges the Bronco in raw horsepower (470 vs 418), but the Bronco Raptor counters with its far more advanced suspension and chassis. The Wrangler 392 still uses solid axles and 35-inch tires – great for slow rock crawling, but it can’t match the Bronco Raptor’s stability and speed over rough terrain. Moreover, the Bronco Raptor’s wider stance and FOX shocks mean it can take jumps and whoops that would unsettle the Jeep. Another competitor is the Land Rover Defender V8 (518 hp) or Mercedes G-Class, but those are far more expensive and luxury-oriented – and neither can remove the roof and doors. Simply put, the Bronco Raptor is in a class of its own as an ultimate off-road SUV that doesn’t sacrifice daily usability. It combines the Bronco’s open-air fun and retro style with capability approaching that of dedicated racing trucks.
Pricing & Availability: The Bronco Raptor is an exclusive machine with limited production. For 2025, MSRP starts around $88,000 and can easily top $100K with options (like the Lux Package, hardtop, and graphics). It’s roughly double the cost of a base Bronco, reflecting the extensive upgrades If you’re ordering a 2026 Bronco Raptor, expect similar pricing and potentially high demand – we recommend placing a reservation early. Tim Moran Ford Hemet can assist with securing a Bronco Raptor allocation or custom factory order (and we have no dealer markup policy, making the process transparent).
Rumors – V8 Bronco Raptor R? Ever since the F-150 Raptor got a V8 R version, fans have speculated about a Bronco Raptor R with a V8. Ford officials, however, have stated that the Bronco’s engine bay simply can’t fit a larger V8 without major >reengineering. As of 2025, no Bronco Raptor R exists and none is planned. Ford seems committed to the EcoBoost V6 for Bronco – but given Ford’s surprises in the past, we wouldn’t entirely rule out some special edition down the line. For now, the 418-hp V6 provides plenty of grunt to power the Bronco Raptor through any trail without breaking a sweat.
Colors & Options: The 2025–2026 Bronco Raptor offers some bold color choices. New additions for 2025 include Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat (a steely blue-gray) and Hot Pepper Red Metallic (a deep red). The signature Shelter Green is also available, carrying over from 2024 as a nod to military-style off-road rigs. Classics like Shadow Black, Oxford White, and Cactus Gray round out the palette. Notably, the famous Code Orange paint is no longer standard; instead, Ford offers a Code Orange Appearance Package which adds orange accents (tow hooks, wheel beadlock rings, interior details) for a splash of that iconic hue. Other options include the Lux Package (adds features like adaptive cruise, upgraded stereo, heated steering wheel – many of which became standard in 2025) and the Graphic packages for hood/side graphics. Wheels can be optioned in different finishes (including stylish Method Racing 17-inch wheels in various colors, co-developed with Ford Performance. Ford also has a Black Appearance Package (blacked-out trim) and various accessories (roof racks, winch by Warn, etc.). Our team at Tim Moran Ford can help you configure the Bronco Raptor of your dreams with the right options.
Ford F-150 Raptor (2025–2026)
The truck that started the Raptor revolution is still the king of high-speed off-road trucks. The Ford F-150 Raptor, now in its third generation (2021+), continues to evolve and dominate. The 2025 F-150 Raptor and Raptor R benefit from Ford’s recent F-150 refresh, bringing updated styling and tech along with truly awe-inspiring performance specs.
Engine Options: Buyers of the F-150 Raptor have two thrilling engine choices:
-
3.5L High-Output EcoBoost V6 – The standard Raptor engine, tuned to 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. This twin-turbo V6 provides plenty of punch, launching the big truck 0–60 in ~5.2 seconds. with a roaring exhaust note enhanced by a 3.0″ active valve exhaust system. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic and standard 4WD. This engine balances everyday usability with serious power – and even returns decent fuel economy for what it is (EPA ~14 mpg city / 18 highway).
-
5.2L Supercharged V8 – Exclusive to the F-150 Raptor R, this Shelby-sourced V8 pumps out a whopping 720 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. That makes the Raptor R one of the most powerful pickups ever made. With launch control, it blasts 0–60 in just 3.6 seconds– supercar territory, in a 6,000+ lb truck! The Raptor R’s supercharged V8 (borrowed from the Mustang GT500, detuned slightly from 760 hp) delivers insane acceleration and a thunderous soundtrack that Raptor fans had been craving. Of course, fuel economy suffers (10 mpg city / 15 highway), but if you’re buying a Raptor R, you probably aren’t worried about gas bills.
Both engines drive through a sophisticated 4×4 drivetrain with a torque-on-demand transfer case and locking rear differential (front Torsen limited-slip). All Raptor models also feature 7 selectable drive modes (Normal, Sport, Slippery, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Baja, and Rock Crawl) to tailor performance to conditions.
Suspension & Capability: The F-150 Raptor is built to conquer desert dunes at 100+ mph and endure jumps and whoops. Its suspension uses FOX Live Valve 3.1-inch internal bypass shocks with electronic semi-active damping, plus coil-spring rear suspension (no leaf springs here) for incredible wheel travel. Standard Raptor models come with 35-inch all-terrain tires, and an optional 37-inch Tire Performance Package ups wheel travel even more. In fact, Raptor 37 models sit about 1 inch higher and achieve 13.1 inches of ground clearance, making them extremely hard to bottom out. The Raptor R comes standard on 37-inch tires, and uniquely tuned springs to handle the extra V8 weight. With the 37s, approach angle is ~33° and departure ~24.9°, allowing the big truck to tackle steep obstacles.
To slow all that mass, the Raptor has hefty 13.8-inch front and 13.2-inch rear brakes. Four exhaust modes (Quiet, Normal, Sport, Baja) let you adjust sound levels – from neighborhood-friendly to full-throated roar. When properly equipped, a standard Raptor can tow up to 8,200 lbs, and the Raptor R up to 8,700 lbs That’s a bit lower than some regular F-150s (which can tow over 13,000 lbs with other engines), but still enough for most boats or trailers. The payload is around 1,400 lbs for both, slightly less than a non-Raptor due to the softer suspension. Basically, the Raptor trades a bit of towing capacity for off-road prowess, which is a trade enthusiast buyers are happy to make.
Design & Interior: The 2025 F-150 Raptor sports the refreshed F-150 look with updated headlights and a fresh tailgate design, but it remains immediately recognizable as a Raptor. Key visual cues include the power dome hood with black heat extractor vents, flared composite fenders, and the hallmark FORD grille with three amber marker lights. The Raptor R further stands out with a unique grille and tailgate badge accented in Code Orange, plus bold “R” badging and optional Raptor R graphics. Both Raptor and Raptor R offer an aggressive Raptor graphics package for the bedsides/hood if desired.
Inside, the Raptor’s cabin is both functional and upscale. You get deeply bolstered sport seats (optional Recaro front seats are available with the Blue Interior Package), a thick leather-and-suede steering wheel (with a centering stripe at 12 o’clock), and aluminum or available carbon-fiber trim accents. For 2025, the Raptor comes standard with a large 12-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12-inch center touchscreen running SYNC 4 with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Autocaranddriver.com. Physical knobs for volume and tuning remain – a detail Car and Driver appreciated in an era of touch controls A 360º camera and Ford Co-Pilot360™ driver aids (pre-collision braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitors, etc.) are standard. Unique Raptor touches abound: the paddle shifters are large magnesium pieces, there’s a Raptor-specific steering wheel with orange stitching, and you’ll find Raptor logos on the seats and floor matsford.com.
You can option the Raptor with amenities like a 18-speaker B&O Unleashed sound system, heads-up display, and even a 2kW Pro Power Onboard generator in the bed for powering tools or camping gear. The crew cab layout offers huge rear seat space, and the rear bench folds up to reveal a flat load floor for secure interior cargo. Overall, the Raptor’s interior matches the high-end F-150 Platinum in tech, but with a performance flair.
F-150 Raptor vs. Competition: In the full-size off-road truck world, the Raptor essentially created the segment, and it still leads the pack. Its primary rival, the Ram 1500 TRX, certainly gave Ford a challenge with its 702-hp supercharged V8 and Bilstein adaptive shocks. However, Ford answered strongly with the Raptor R’s 720-hp V8, now eclipsing the TRX in power. The Raptor R’s 0-60 time (3.6 s) is also quicker than the TRX’s ~4.5 s. The TRX ceased production after 2024, marking the end of an era – meaning for 2025–2026, the Raptor R stands alone as the ultimate factory super-truck. Meanwhile, the standard Raptor (450 hp V6) goes up against trucks like the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2. Chevy’s ZR2, with a 6.2L V8 making 420 hp, is notably down on power vs the Raptor The Raptor also has more suspension travel and larger shocks than the ZR2 Bison edition, making it better suited for high-speed runs. Where the Silverado ZR2 is built for slower off-road crawling and trail work, the F-150 Raptor excels at high-speed desert running and overall versatility. Additionally, Ford’s extensive experience in Baja racing (and three generations of Raptor refinement) give it an edge in chassis tuning that competitors are still chasing. Simply put, the F-150 Raptor remains the benchmark – the truck all others compare to. And with constant improvements (like the new Fox Live Valve shocks and the Raptor R’s power bump), Ford intends to keep it that way.
Trim Levels & Packages: Ford simplifies the F-150 Raptor lineup by splitting it essentially into two models: Raptor and Raptor R. The standard Raptor (with the EcoBoost V6) comes very well equipped; notable options include the 37″ Tire Performance Package, interior color packages (Blue or Orange accents), and a Carbon Fiber Package (which adds genuine carbon fiber trim to the interior). The Raptor R is technically an option package atop the Raptor ($30k+ upgrade for the V8 and R equipment), but it’s often treated as its own trim. The Raptor R includes almost everything standard (37” tires, unique wheels, Recaro front seats, carbon fiber, etc.), along with distinctive graphics and badges. Raptor R also allows some unique paint choices like a shade of Antimatter Blue or Avalanche gray not offered on the base Raptor.
Color choices on Raptors include aggressive tones: an exclusive Shelter Green (a dark, army green unique to Raptor trims) was introduced in 2024 and continues for 2025. Other colors are Avalanche (flat gray), Agate Black, Oxford White, Iconic Silver/Carbonized Gray, and Rapid Red Metallic (extra-cost)t. Code Orange, the signature Raptor color from 2021-2023, was discontinued for 2024+ in favor of Shelter Greenbronco6g.com. However, Raptor R still gets plenty of orange accents via its badges and optional graphics. No matter which color you choose, the F-150 Raptor will look like nothing else on the road – equal parts menace and beauty to off-road enthusiasts.
Maverick Raptor – What’s the Story?
Is there a 2025 Maverick Raptor? Not yet. The Ford Maverick (Ford’s compact pickup) does not currently have an official Raptor variant. Ford has used the Raptor name on the F-150, Ranger, and Bronco, but not on the Maverick – likely because the Maverick is built more as a city-friendly truck and its unibody platform is quite different. That said, off-road enthusiasts have shown huge interest in a “baby Raptor.” Ford has introduced a Maverick Tremor package (with a slight lift, all-terrain tires, and off-road tuning) which some call a “mini Raptor” in spirit. The 2025 Maverick Tremor offers a 1” lift, upgraded suspension and all-wheel drive with a twin-clutch rear differential, plus 30-inch all-terrain tires – but it’s not nearly as extreme as a true Raptor.
There have been rumors and speculative renderings of a Maverick ST or Raptor. Ford even launched a street-performance Maverick called the Maverick Lobo for 2025 (lowered suspension, 2.0L turbo 250 hp, sport tuning) – more of a street truck than an off-roader. For now, if you want a hardcore off-road compact truck, the Maverick Tremor is the closest thing. It’s possible that as the Raptor brand continues to grow, Ford could surprise us with a Maverick Raptor in 2026 or beyond, especially if a future Bronco Sport-based pickup or other small 4×4 truck emerges. Many in the off-road community would love to see a Maverick Raptor with say a 2.3L turbo engine and long-travel suspension, but Ford has not announced anything concrete. Rest assured, Tim Moran Ford will be on top of any Maverick Raptor news. In the meantime, we’re happy to help you explore Maverick Tremor options or other Ford trucks that fit your lifestyle.

Frequently Asked Questions – Ford Raptor 2025–2026
Q: When will the 2025–2026 Ford Raptor models be available?
A: The 2025 Raptor models (Ranger, Bronco, F-150) are available now at Tim Moran Ford Hemet in limited quantities. Many have already arrived on our lot or are in transit. Custom orders for 2025 models are open – you can place an order to secure exactly the color and options you want. As for 2026 models, production typically starts in mid-to-late 2025 for fall deliveries. Ford has not announced major changes for 2026, so ordering a 2025 now is a great choice (you’ll be enjoying your Raptor right away). If you prefer the latest model year, we can keep you updated on 2026 order banks and availability. Either way, contact our sales team to get the latest info on Raptor availability. We also maintain a list of interested buyers due to high demand – joining it can help ensure you get a crack at the next allocation.
Q: How much does a Ford Raptor cost?
A: It depends on the model:
- The 2025 Ranger Raptor starts around $56,000 MSRP (well-equipped).
- The 2025 Bronco Raptor starts around $88,000 MSRP (with most features standard).
- The 2025 F-150 Raptor (base V6) starts around $77,000 MSRP, while the Raptor R starts around $109,000 MSRP (due to the supercharged V8 and included upgrades).
Keep in mind these are base prices – adding options or packages (or destination fees) will affect the final price. Also, market conditions can influence pricing; however, Tim Moran Ford maintains MSRP pricing with no mark-up, so you get a fair deal. We also have financing and lease specials that can make your Raptor more affordable monthly. Check our Monthly Specials or speak with our finance managers for current deals. Additionally, factor in insurance and fuel costs, which will be higher for these high-performance trucks. Overall, while Raptors are premium-priced vehicles, their performance and resale values are excellent – they tend to hold value well due to demand.
Q: How do the Raptors compare in off-road capability?
A: All Raptors are top-tier off-road machines, but each has its niche:
- The F-150 Raptor/Raptor R is best for high-speed desert running and large jumps. With long wheelbase and wide stance, it’s incredibly stable at speed. Its suspension has the most travel, and it can tackle open dunes or big air with ease. It’s a larger truck, so tight trails can be trickier, but it can crawl decently too with Rock mode and locking diff.
- The Bronco Raptor is ideal for rock crawling and mixed terrain where a slightly smaller wheelbase and ultra-rigid frame shine. Its 37” tires and sway-bar disconnect give it an edge on rocks over the F-150. Plus, you can remove doors/roof for trail fun. It’s slightly less at home at very high speeds due to shorter wheelbase (more bounce), but still Baja-capable.
- The Ranger Raptor is great for narrow trails and rally-style off-roading. It’s more agile in wooded or narrow environments where the F-150 might feel big. It also has excellent suspension and can handle high-speed dirt driving, though the lighter weight means it won’t absorb huge whoops as easily as the F-150. It’s a fantastic “do-it-all” off-roader in a midsize package.
In summary, all Raptors share a core capability – you could confidently take any of them through desert dunes, mud bogs, or mountain trails that would leave lesser trucks stuck. Ford built each with Baja race DNA (the Raptor name itself is inspired by off-road trophy trucks). Specific differences are mostly size and power: F-150 Raptor R has the most power for dunes or even drag races; Bronco Raptor’s shorter and tall stance is superb for boulder crawling; Ranger Raptor provides a nimble yet powerful option for tighter off-road courses. It often comes down to whether you need the bed utility and extra space (go F-150), the SUV versatility and open air (Bronco), or a more compact truck (Ranger). We invite you to test drive them (when available) and feel these differences yourself!
Q: What are the towing capacities of the Raptor models?
A: Towing is somewhat secondary for Raptors (their focus is off-road performance), but they still can tow:
- F-150 Raptor (V6): Up to 8,200 lbs towing capacity and around 1,400 lbs payload.
- F-150 Raptor R (V8): Up to 8,700 lbs towing, ~1,400 lbs payload (the R’s extra horsepower actually gives a slight boost to towing).
- Bronco Raptor: 4,500 lbs max towing, about 1,000 lbs payload. This is higher than other Broncos (3,500 lbs) thanks to chassis upgrades.
- Ranger Raptor: 5,510 lbs max towing, ~1,375 lbs payload.
- (No Maverick Raptor, but for reference a Maverick Tremor tows ~2,000 lbs or 4,000 lbs with 4K Tow Package.)
It’s important to note these figures are maxima assuming proper equipment and tongue weight distribution. The F-150 Raptors require the optional tow package to reach those numbers. Also, towing at or near max in a Raptor will push the suspension and fuel economy – these trucks have softer suspension for off-road, which can squat with heavy trailers (weight distribution hitches are recommended). If your primary need is heavy towing (over 10k lbs regularly), a standard F-150 or Super Duty might be more suitable. But for most recreational towing (boats, small travel trailers, car haulers with off-road toys), the Raptors are more than capable. Plus, they come with features like a Trailer Backup Assist and trailer brake controllers to make towing easier. Always ensure you stay within GVWR/GAWR limits and consult Ford’s towing guide or our team if unsure.
Q: Are Ford Raptors good for daily driving?
A: Yes – surprisingly so. Despite their extreme capabilities, all Raptor models come with modern comforts and manners that make them fine as daily drivers for many owners. They have smooth automatic transmissions, full suites of driver-assist features, and amenities like dual-zone climate control, heated/cooled seats (on many trims), premium audio, and connectivity (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, etc.). On pavement, the ride is generally plush – the same suspension that conquers off-road bumps also soaks up potholes nicely. For example, the Bronco Raptor’s suspension makes it “surprisingly easygoing on pavement”, as one review noted. The F-150 Raptor, being a full-size truck, offers a composed highway ride with its long wheelbase. The main daily driving downsides: fuel economy (these are thirsty vehicles, especially the V8 Raptor R at ~12 mpg combined), and size. The F-150 Raptor is very wide (86” not including mirrors) and tall – you’ll need to be mindful in parking garages or tight streets. The Bronco Raptor is similarly wide and has a high step-in. The Ranger Raptor is the most city-friendly size-wise, but it’s still larger than a standard Ranger. Also, tire noise from the all-terrains is present at highway speeds (less so if you swap to a mild all-terrain). If you can live with those factors, a Raptor can absolutely be a daily driver that puts a smile on your face every commute. Many of our customers daily drive their Raptors and love the commanding view and knowing they can tackle any terrain on a whim. Plus, practical things like the F-150’s big bed or the Bronco’s 4-door seating make them useful for chores and family duty. In short: daily driving a Raptor is like daily driving a very comfortable, well-appointed monster truck – it’s fun and feasible, just budget a bit more for fuel.
Q: What maintenance do Raptor vehicles require?
A: Raptors follow similar maintenance schedules to their standard Ford counterparts, with a few considerations:
- Regular Oil Changes: Turbocharged engines like the EcoBoost V6 and the supercharged V8 benefit from quality oil and regular changes. Ford recommends every 5,000–7,500 miles for oil/filter changes under normal use, or more frequently if you do lots of off-roading or towing. We use the recommended synthetic blend (or full synthetic) oil to keep those engines healthy.
- Tire Rotations & Alignments: The large all-terrain tires should be rotated at each oil change to ensure even wear. Also, if you off-road, you’ll want to get the alignment checked periodically – hitting ruts and rocks can knock it out of spec. Our Quick Lane® Tire & Auto Center can handle rotations quickly, and we have alignment equipment calibrated for oversized Raptor tires.
- Brake Inspections: Raptors are heavy and often driven fast, so brake pads can wear faster than in a normal F-150/Bronco. We inspect brakes at service intervals. Pads and rotors are straightforward to replace (and we use Motorcraft/Ford Performance parts to maintain stopping power).
- Suspension Checks: The Fox Live Valve shocks are robust but it’s good practice to have them and the suspension linkage inspected if you routinely do hard off-roading or especially after any jump landings. Listen for any new clunks and have us check it out. We can also rebuild or replace shocks if ever needed.
- Drivetrain Fluids: Axle differentials, transfer case, and transmission fluids should be changed at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals (often ~30,000 miles for diffs if heavy use). Water fording or deep mud might contaminate fluids, so we can check breathers and fluids if your Raptor swims in the muck.
- General: Air filter changes (off-road dust can clog them faster, so we might suggest checking air filters more often). Spark plugs on the EcoBoost every ~30k miles. Cooling system and belts per normal intervals. The Bronco Raptor’s removable roof means you should keep seals clean and conditioned to prevent leaks.
Overall, maintenance on a Raptor isn’t vastly different from any Ford truck/SUV, but because owners tend to use them in strenuous ways, vigilance is key. At Tim Moran Ford’s service center, we have experience servicing Raptors regularly, so we know what to look for. We even keep unique Raptor parts in stock (like specific suspension components, 37” tires, beadlock ring kits, etc.). Don’t forget, if you bought your Raptor from us, you likely have free maintenance for 2 years via our Family Plan, which covers oil changes and more – so we’ll take care of those routine services at no cost to you initially. Just schedule your appointments and we’ll make sure your Raptor stays in peak shape.
Q: Can I finance or lease a Raptor, and what about insurance?
A: Yes, we offer both financing and leasing on Raptor models (except perhaps Raptor R which is typically purchase-only due to limited supply, but we can discuss options). Our finance team works with various lenders, including Ford Credit, to secure loans for Raptor purchases. Interest rates will depend on your credit profile, but Ford often has special APR offers on F-150 and Ranger models which may apply to Raptors. Leasing a Raptor is less common but possible on F-150 and Ranger Raptors – Bronco Raptor leases are rarer due to supply. Leasing can give you a lower monthly payment but remember you must stay within mileage limits and any off-road damage could affect lease-end charges. We can walk you through a buy vs. lease comparison to see what’s best for you.
For insurance, Raptors generally cost more to insure than a standard F-150 or Bronco due to their high values and performance nature. The exact cost will vary, but be prepared for higher premiums, especially on the Raptor R (a 700+hp vehicle). Be sure to mention to your insurer if your Raptor has any special equipment or if you plan significant off-roading – some policies might need riders for aftermarket parts or off-road use. It’s wise to shop around insurance quotes before you buy so you have an accurate picture of total ownership cost.
